TODAY in Appalachia Servant Event
WHAT TO EXPECT
If your event starts on Monday morning plan to arrive by 6:00 p.m. the day before to unpack and participate in orientation
Typical Servant Day – expect the unexpected for a variety of reasons
– Breakfast 7:00 – 8:00 a.m.
– Depart for work sites by 8:30 a.m. – Teams 1, 2, 3, etc…
– Work from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon
– Lunch Break from 12:00 to 12:30 or 1:00 p.m. (on-site; sack lunches)
– Work from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (clean-up & secure materials)
– Return to church; shower and get ready for evening activities
– Dinner at 6:00 p.m.
– Prayer & Preaching Service or Evening Devotions at 7:00 p.m.
– Free Time until “Lights Out” at 11:00 p.m.
WHAT TO BRING
Forms: Please complete and have proper signatures on all registration/medical forms. The original, along with a copy of your insurance card, should be placed in a business-size envelope with the participant’s name written on the outside. This envelope will go with each participant to each worksite and/or activity. A copy of the registration/medical form shall be made for the Event Coordinator and the Deaconess.
DAY WEAR - Practical
- Long and short sleeved shirts
- Long pants /Jeans
- Socks that cover your ankle (required)
- Work boots /Sturdy shoes (required)
- Safety glasses /Goggles
- Hat (protection from the sun/rain)
- Work gloves
EVENING WEAR - Comfortable
- Tops /T-shirts /Shirts
- Jeans /Shorts
- Socks (strongly recommended)
- Tennis shoes or Walking shoes
- Swimsuit (weather-permitting)
- Pajamas
- Towels /Wash cloth
- Hairbrush /Comb
- Hair-ties (pull up long hair while working)
- Shampoo /Bar soap
- Toothbrush /Toothpaste
- Prescription medicines (labeled)
- Air Mattress / Cot
- Sleeping Bag / Bedding, Pillow
- Extra Spending Money (optional)
- Hammer
- Shovel / Spade
- Rake / Clippers
- Saws, Saw Horses, Saw Table, Circular Saw
- Screwdrivers / Wrenches
